Electric boating Amsterdam
Amsterdam is leading the way in implementing emission-free sailing. How does that work? We were at SAIL Amsterdam 2025 with our electric boats to experience it firsthand.
Amsterdam and regulations
You must sail emission-free on Amsterdam's (inland) waterways. This applies to all types of vessels. A temporary transitional arrangement applies to some boats. An emission-free zone for pleasure craft will be in effect in the city center, including the Singelgracht, starting November 1, 2025.
Petrol or diesel boats are no longer permitted in the emission-free zone. Exception: boats with a sticker purchased before November 1st may temporarily enter the zone. You are permitted to sail outside the zone.

Utrecht , Haarlem , and Leiden are also working on similar initiatives and legislation. Keep an eye on our website for the latest information.
If your boat is trailerable , we can convert it to an emission-free drive system for you in our workshop in Monster. For boating, you can consult with our partner in Woubrugge, where we can take care of the conversion for you.
And what did we think of it?
Sail Amsterdam 2025, with its big waves, wind, enormous crowds, and occasional downpours, taught us that our robust electric boats, even the smallest " Robbie ," are perfectly capable of tackling the IJ. Even fully loaded with loads of people and with a light motor, we enjoyed carefree electric boating in Amsterdam.
