This flexible, double-insulated, black 16mm² battery cable is suitable for use in dry, wet, and oily environments for connecting inverters, chargers, motors, generators, transformers, and anywhere high-quality DC connections are required. A 16mm² battery cable is suitable for a maximum continuous current of 48A (up to a cable length of 5 meters). Cables transport the current to or from your inverter or battery charger. Correct cable selection is therefore crucial to prevent system losses or malfunctions. Battery cables are specified for a maximum voltage depending on the application (electrical circuit or welding). The cable thickness depends on the continuous current through the cable. The rule of thumb for determining the cable diameter is to divide the continuous current by three (3), up to a length of 5 meters, and always round up. For longer cable lengths, a successive cable diameter should be selected for each 5-meter length. Example: With a combined consumption of 1000W in the circuit on a 12V battery, the continuous current is therefore 1000/12 = 83A. The cable thickness up to 5 meters is therefore 35mm² (round up to 27.7). For a length between 5 and 10 meters, the required cable thickness is 50mm². Quality / Construction: Conductor: Electrolytic / tinned annealed copper (EN13600 - class 6) with PVC insulation and NBR/PVC oil-resistant sheathing. Color: Black: RAL 9005. Standard according to guideline HD.22.6, IEC 245-6. Can be ordered per meter or per full roll.
