The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 48/48-8A (380W) DC-DC battery charger is specially designed for use in systems with an ECO (smart) alternator (Euro 5 / Euro 6). This professional three-step DC to DC battery charger ensures that additional batteries in vehicles or boats can be charged efficiently despite fluctuating alternator voltage. The Orion-Tr Smart can be monitored and programmed via Bluetooth, and controlled remotely using an external on/off switch. In addition, the device is equipped with an engine running detection mechanism. Bluetooth Smart enabled Any smartphone, tablet or other Bluetooth-equipped device can be used to check and change settings, and update the charger when new software features become available. Fully programmable > Battery charge algorithm (configurable) or fixed output. > Smart alternator compatibility: engine running detection mechanism. Adaptive 3-stage charging algorithm: bulk – absorption – float. For lead-acid batteries, it is important to keep the absorption time short during shallow discharges to prevent overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure the battery is fully recharged. For lithium batteries, the absorption time is fixed, the default being 2 hours. Alternatively, a fixed output voltage can be selected. Remote on/off function: A remote on/off switch or relay contact can be connected to a two-pole connector. Alternatively, the H-terminal (right) of the two-pole connector can be switched to battery positive, or the L-terminal (left) of the two-pole connector can be switched to battery negative (or, for example, the chassis of a vehicle). Parallel connection: All models are short-circuit-proof and can be connected in parallel to increase the output current. An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel. High temperature protection: The output current will decrease at high ambient temperatures. IP43 protection when installed with downward-facing screw terminals.
