The new Victron Phoenix Smart Charger 12/50 (3) IP43 120-240V has three outputs. All outputs are full current outputs to charge 3 battery banks, and all outputs can supply the full nominal capacity. For voltage and temperature compensated charging, the wireless Smart Battery Sense (SBS050100200) can be ordered. Bluetooth Smart enabled Use a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet or other device to monitor voltage and current, change settings, and update the charger when new features become available. Automatic charge compensation By slightly increasing the output voltage as the DC current increases, the charger automatically compensates for voltage loss through the DC cables. Adaptive 5-stage charge algorithm: bulk - absorption - reconditioning - buffer - storage The Phoenix Smart Charger features the well-known Victron Energy adaptive battery management system that can be preset for different battery types. The adaptive function automatically optimizes the charging process based on battery usage. The right amount of charge: adjusted absorption time. When the battery is slightly discharged (if the charger is connected to the power grid), the absorption time is kept short to prevent overcharging and excessive gassing. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically extended to fully charge the battery. Limiting damage from excessive gassing: the safe battery mode. If, to shorten the charging time, a high charging current and an increased charging voltage are selected, the Phoenix charger will limit the voltage rise rate after the gassing voltage is reached. This prevents excessive gassing in the final phase of the charge cycle. Reduced maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use: the storage mode. When there is no discharge for more than 24 hours, the battery switches to the storage mode. The voltage is then reduced to 2.2 V/cell (13.2 V for a 12 V battery) to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is increased to absorption level to recharge the battery. This prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulfation of the plates, a major cause of premature battery failure. Also suitable for charging Li-ion (LiFePO₄) batteries. On/off control of the charger can be implemented by connecting a relay or an open collector optocoupler output of a Li-ion BMS to the remote control port of the charger. Alternatively, full control of the voltage and current is possible by control via Bluetooth. Fully programmable charge algorithm The charge algorithm can be set using Bluetooth or the VE.Direct interface. Three pre-programmed charge algorithms can be selected using the mode button. Remote control on/off The remote control on/off consists of two connections: Remote control H and Remote control L. A remote control on/off button or relay contact can be placed between H and L. It is also possible to raise connection H or lower connection L. VE.Direct interface For connection to the Color Control panel, laptop, or other device. Programmable relay. Can be set using the VE.Direct interface or a Bluetooth device in the event of an alarm or pre-alarm.
