The RBS is a magnetic latching relay, meaning no current is drawn from the battery when the contact is closed. This is a major advantage over regular relays, which require a (sometimes significant) holding current to keep the contact closed. The advantages of this relay: – The relay can be manually opened, closed, on, and off using the three buttons. – This relay could therefore serve as a main switch for the Multiplus and other DC consumers. – After switching off at 20% SOC via the BMV, the user can still choose to use the remaining 20% ​​by closing the relay by pressing the "Close" button, thus overriding the relay. The Remote Battery Switch does not have the option of switching off/on to a customizable voltage. – If you want to utilize the last 20% of battery capacity, this is possible up to 11.8V (23.6V at 24V). When measuring this voltage, the relay will switch off after 1 minute and only reactivate when shore power is present, sufficient SOC is reached, or charging voltage (13.2V or 26.4V) is present. After switching off due to low voltage, the "Close" button is no longer available, and the battery cannot be drained any further. Another advantage of the RBS is its built-in protection. It is protected against high/low supply voltage and high temperatures. Furthermore, a smart function is available to automatically fix light to medium contact welds. Finally, the RBS is also ignition protected according to ISO 8846.
