What is the Shelly EM Gen3? The Shelly EM Gen3 is a compact smart energy meter for single-phase installations, featuring 2 measurement channels via measuring coils (CT) for contactless measurement. You can connect up to 2 CTs, and the set comes with a CT 50A measuring coil; it is also compatible with the CT 80A measuring coil. What exactly does it measure? With the EM Gen3, you measure voltage and current, among other things, and the meter records active and apparent power, active and apparent energy, and power factor. This makes the Shelly EM Gen3 suitable for circuit-specific insights as well as energy optimization. Contactor control via dry contact (external load control) The EM Gen3 features a potential-free relay for switching control. The maximum switching load is 240 V~ and 2 A for the output. Data logging & real-time clock * Local data logs are stored on the device for at least 10 days with 1-minute resolution. * The EM Gen3 features a real-time clock and supports smart schedules. Connectivity, web interface & integrations Shelly connectivity with WiFi and Bluetooth. The EM Gen3 features an embedded web interface for monitoring, configuring, and operating. MQTT, HTTP, WebSocket, and RPC protocols are supported, plus webhooks and scripting. Additionally, 8 MB flash (Shelly chip), encryption (transport level), and authentication are supported. Installation (retrofit) & size The EM Gen3 is designed as a compact form factor and can be installed in or near standard flush-mounted and wall sockets (WCD) next to devices or outlets.
