Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 FP

The Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 FP is a 6kW 48V pod motor from the Torqeedo Cruise range, designed for boats up to 9 meters in length or 4 tons in displacement. Pod motors are suitable for motorboats and sailboats up to 12 meters in length.

The Torqeedo Cruise benefits

• Space-saving: The compact motor is mounted underneath the boat, with only the battery(ies) and charger inside. The combination weighs less than a (diesel) saildrive.
• Lightweight: the Cruise 3.0 FP weighs just 12.8 kg, the 6.0 FP 14.7 kg, and the Cruise 12.0 FP 33.5 kg.
• Powerful: The Cruise series is designed as the main propulsion system for sloops, tenders, sailboats, and motorboats up to approximately 10 meters in length. Thanks to the high torque and large propeller, you always have sufficient power.
• Efficient, so you can sail longer: The highly efficient brushless motor combined with the specially designed propeller allows you to sail longer on a single charge. And the motor itself creates very little drag underwater.
• Smart: The display shows the remaining cruising time or distance, GPS speed, battery life (% battery life), and power consumption. The Torq Trac app provides all of this, along with the map position, on your smartphone!

Keep in mind that every boat is different. A sleek, lightweight boat, for example, will sail more efficiently than a wide, heavy one. The sailing area is also important. A lighter engine can be used for sailing in sheltered waters and for shorter distances than for sailing in open water. Always consult your dealer for this.

How fast can I sail?

If you choose the right engine (see above), you can generally achieve your boat's hull speed. For non-planing boats, this is also essentially the maximum speed. It's the speed at which the bow wave wavelength is equal to your boat's waterline length. The closer you get to that hull speed, the more energy is expended (or wasted) creating waves. A more economical cruising speed is therefore slightly lower. Here's an indication:

With the 1700W fast charger, this battery charges in 2 hours at 220V. For a longer range, multiple batteries can be combined. Torqeedo Power 48-5000 The Power 48-5000 battery is a 48V battery with a net capacity of 5 kWh and is suitable for use with the Torqeedo Cruise 3.0, 6.0, 10.0, and 12.0. It comes standard with an intelligent BMS (Battery Management System) that monitors the battery for overcharging, overvoltage, deep discharge, short circuits, and overheating. The Power 48-5000 is designed for marine applications with waterproof connectors and a waterproof housing. Modular configuration is also available for extended range. This battery boasts a unique lifespan of over 3,000 charge cycles. The TorqLink system makes it easy to connect this battery to components of the complete Cruise drivetrain.
