TS Enovations Insulation monitor IMD3
The safest insulation monitor. The new IMD3 insulation monitor sets the standard for safety and protects people working outside a vehicle with 230V equipment powered by the vehicle. This latest model no longer has throughput capacity, as the inverter is now switched off via the remote connection. Safety has been further improved by immediately warning of a missing or defective earth connection. The IMD3 has been independently tested: thanks to its global approval, including a KIWA certificate, the insulation monitor meets the strictest international standards. How does insulation monitoring work? An insulation monitor applies a signal to the live wires, which the insulation monitor continuously measures. If the outgoing signal differs from the returning signal, the insulation monitor immediately switches off the power. Discover the most important new features of the IMD3 model: • Applicable to any inverter capacity: The IMD3 has no power limit, making this model suitable for inverters of any capacity. • Worldwide approval and applicability: The IMD3 has worldwide approval, including KIWA certification. International approvals are stricter, making it suitable for use outside Europe. • Enhanced safety: When the vehicle is connected to the power grid, for example, to charge a battery, the IMD3 immediately warns if there is a poor or missing earth connection. Easy installation: Installing the IMD3 is easy thanks to the pre-assembled wiring harness and included manual. An insulation monitor is only applicable if a floating grid can be created. The manual describes in simple terms how to create a floating grid system using Victron software. What is a floating grid system? When a portable static inverter is used and a proper safety earth is not possible, the NEN1010 guideline prescribes the use of a floating grid system. An IT system is a floating grid system with respect to earth. A floating grid system can be achieved through galvanic isolation and/or decoupling.
