Victron AGM Battery 12V/8Ah
The Victron 12V/8Ah AGM battery is a sealed battery with a capacity of 8Ah based on VRLA technology. An AGM battery is also called a multi-purpose or dual-purpose battery and is suitable for both slow discharge and short-term high-current applications, such as inverters, bow thrusters, and winches. The battery connections are made of copper with holes for M6 bolts to ensure good contact. Crimp terminals can be mounted directly onto the battery, eliminating the need for battery terminals. The batteries meet both European CE and American UL specifications, are encased in fire-resistant ABS, and come with Victron Energy's 2-year worldwide warranty. AGM stands for Absorbed Glass Mat. In AGM batteries, the electrolyte is absorbed into a fiberglass mat sandwiched between the plates. In an AGM battery, the charge carriers, hydrogen ions (H2) and sulfate ions (SO4), move more easily between the plates than in a gel battery. VRLA technology: VRLA stands for Valve Regulated Lead Acid. This means the batteries are sealed. Gas will only escape through a safety valve due to incorrect charging and/or defective cells. VRLA batteries are maintenance-free throughout their entire lifespan. Low self-discharge: Due to the use of lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials, Victron VRLA batteries can easily handle long periods without charging. Self-discharge is less than 2% per month at a temperature of 20°C. This discharge rate doubles with every 10°C increase in temperature. Victron VRLA batteries can therefore be stored for up to a year without needing to be recharged, provided this is done at a relatively low temperature. Exceptional discharge recovery: Victron VRLA batteries recover very well, even after deep and prolonged discharges. Nevertheless, repeated deep and prolonged discharges negatively impact the lifespan of all lead-acid batteries. Victron batteries are no exception. Battery discharge characteristics: The nominal capacity of Victron Deep Cycle batteries refers to a discharge of 20 hours (a discharge current of 0.05C). The nominal capacity of Victron Tubular Plate Long Life batteries refers to a discharge of 10 hours. The effective capacity decreases as the discharge current increases. Charging current: The charging current of a VRLA battery should not exceed 0.2C (20A for a 100 Ah battery). The battery temperature will increase by more than 10°C if the charging current exceeds 0.2C, and temperature compensation is then necessary.
