Victron Argodiode 80-2AC 2 80A
The ARGO Diode 80-2 AC battery isolator can charge two batteries with a single alternator, with a maximum alternator current of 80A. This AC version has a separate, current-limited "Energize" connection that allows voltage to be applied to the B+ terminal. Thanks to the use of Schottky diodes, the voltage drop of the Argo isolators is very low: only 0.3V at low current and 0.45V at maximum current. All models are equipped with a compensation diode that can be used to slightly increase the alternator voltage. This compensates for the voltage drop across the charging current distribution diodes. Alternator "Energize" Connection: Some alternators only start charging if voltage is present on the B+ terminal. When the alternator is connected directly to a battery, voltage will be present on the B+ terminal. However, a diode or FET isolator isolates the batteries from the alternator, preventing it from starting. The new 'AC' diode battery isolators have a separate current-limited 'Energize' connection that allows voltage to be applied to the B+ connection when the engine ignition is turned to the ignition position.
