Automatic detection 12/24V The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage Simple programming The BatteryProtect can be set to switch on/off at different voltages. The 7-segment display shows the selected setting. A special setting for lithium-ion batteries In this mode the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Please note: the BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge interrupter between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See connection diagram in the manual. Super low power consumption This is important in the case of lithium-ion batteries, especially after a low voltage shutdown. See our lithium-ion battery datasheet and VE.Bus BMS manual for more information. Overvoltage protection To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected as soon as the DC voltage reaches 16V resp. exceeds 32V. Protected against ignition No relay, but MOSFET switches and therefore no sparks. Delayed alarm The alarm is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, starting the engine does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is an open-collector, short-circuit proof output connected to the negative (minus) rail, max. current 50mA. The alarm output is generally used to activate the buzzer, an LED or relay. Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises back to the coupling threshold within this time frame (after the engine has been started, for example), the load is not disconnected. The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage rises above the preset reconnection voltage.
