The BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before it becomes fully discharged (which would damage the battery) or before there is insufficient power left to start the engine. The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage. The BatteryProtect can be set to switch on/off at different voltages. The 7-segment display shows the selected setting. A special setting for lithium-ion batteries allows the BatteryProtect to be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note: The BatteryProtect can also be used as a load interrupter between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See the connection diagram in the manual. Ultra-low current consumption is important for lithium-ion batteries, especially after a low-voltage shutdown. See our lithium-ion battery datasheet and the VE.Bus BMS manual for more information. To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected as soon as the DC voltage exceeds 16V or 32V respectively. Ignition protected. No relays, but MOSFET switches, so no sparks. Delayed alarm. The alarm is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, starting the engine does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit proof open-collector output connected to the negative rail, max. current 50mA. The alarm output is generally used to activate the buzzer, an LED, or a relay. Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection. The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises to the connect threshold within this timeframe (for example, after the engine has started), the load is not disconnected. The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has risen above the preset reconnect voltage.
