Victron Cyrix-ct combiner relay 12/24V-230A
The Cyrix Battery Combiner is a microprocessor-controlled relay for heavy-duty applications. Connected batteries or battery banks are automatically connected in parallel when one of them reaches the preset voltage (indicating that the battery is being charged) and disconnected when the voltage drops below the float level (indicating that one or more batteries are being discharged). A Cyrix battery combiner is an excellent alternative to a diode isolator. Its key feature is that voltage drop is virtually zero, eliminating the need to increase the output voltage of alternators or battery chargers. Battery voltage monitoring prevents unwanted switching. Some battery combiners (also called voltage-controlled relays or isolating relays) disconnect a battery in the event of a brief but high current surge. Sometimes a battery combiner will also not connect a large, but discharged, battery bank because the DC voltage immediately drops below the disconnect voltage once the batteries are connected. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 software does more than just connect and disconnect based on battery voltage and a set time delay. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 looks at the overall trend (voltage increase or decrease) and only adjusts the most recently performed action if the trend has changed during a certain time period. The time delay depends on the voltage deviation from the trend. (For battery combiners with multiple connect/disconnect profiles, see Cyrix-i 400) Long bolts to allow connection of more than one power cable Cyrix 12/24-120: 13 mm (M6) Cyrix 12/24-230: 16 mm (M8) Protection against overheating (due to prolonged overload e.g.) The Cyrix disconnects in the event of excessive contact temperature and re-connects after it has cooled down. LED status indication (only with Cyrix 12/24 230) LED on: connected LED on for 10 sec.: disconnected LED on for 2 sec.: connection in progress LED flashing every 2 sec.: connection in progress LED flashing every 0.25 sec.: alarm (overtemperature; voltage > 16V; both batteries < 10V; one battery < 2V) (multiply by 2 for 24V) 12/24 V automatic detection The Cyrix-ct 12/24 automatically detects the system voltage. No voltage loss The Cyrix battery separator is an excellent alternative to diode battery isolators. Its main feature is that there is practically no voltage loss, so the output voltage of alternators or battery chargers does not need to be increased. Starter battery priority It is common practice to connect the alternator directly to the starter battery. The accessory battery, and possibly a bow thruster battery and other batteries, are all connected to the starter battery with a Cyrix battery separator. When the Cyrix detects that the starter battery has reached the coupling voltage, it ensures that all batteries are charged in parallel. Bidirectional voltage measurement and power from both batteries: The Cyrix measures the voltage of both connected batteries. This allows the Cyrix to connect the batteries in parallel even if, for example, the accessory battery is being charged by a battery charger. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 has a dual power supply. This ensures that the Cyrix closes if the voltage of one battery is too low to operate it. To prevent unexpected operation during installation or when one battery is disconnected, the Cyrix-ct 12/24 will not close if the voltage of either battery connection is lower than 2V (for a 12V battery) or 4V (for a 24V battery). Emergency parallel connection (Start Assist) The Cyrix can also be activated via a push button (the Cyrix remains active for 30 seconds) or a switch to manually connect batteries in parallel. This is especially useful in an emergency if the starter battery is flat or defective.
