Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor specifically designed for Victron MPPT solar chargers connected to AGM, GEL, and Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. Voltage and temperature measurement improves battery charging, increases charging efficiency, and extends battery life. Improves battery charging. By measuring the voltage at the battery bank connections, errors caused by voltage drop due to cable resistance are prevented, thus guaranteeing the correct charging voltage. For lead-acid batteries, the battery temperature data is used to adjust the charging voltages: cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, while hot batteries require a lower charging voltage. For lithium batteries, the temperature data is used to disable charging if they are too cold: charging lithium batteries at or below freezing causes permanent damage to the cells. Look, completely wireless! The connection between Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar chargers is wireless: It uses the VE.Smart Network – a wireless technology based on Bluetooth Smart. The transmitted information can be used simultaneously by one, two or more solar chargers connected to the same 12V, 24V and 48V battery bank. The Smart Network is set up with the free VictronConnect app (https://stroomwinkel.nl/software). Neat, simple – smart Installation is simple, quick and neat. Simply connect the two connection eyes of the unit to the terminals of your battery and connect the Smart Battery Sense unit directly to the battery itself using the adhesive strip.
