Southwesterly sloop ZWS-500
ZWS-500 Slightly more compact than the 525, more electric motor options
In our line
Southwesterly sloops Specifically designed for electric boating, which began with the ZWS-525, we've included the ZWS-500. This ZWS-500 sloop is essentially identical to the 525, with a few minor adjustments: slightly more compact, reflecting the limited frontage and thus mooring space of some waterfront homes. Besides the slightly reduced length, the ZWS-500's engine compartment has also been adapted for the growing range of different electric motors. Simply put: the ZWS-500 fits more types of motors, giving you slightly more options for engine-battery configurations. While maintaining virtually the same interior space, the efficient water displacement, and therefore low power consumption for which this line was designed.
- Comfortable seating and banquette seating for 6-8 people.
- 50-60% lower power consumption than other designs, requires a smaller (and therefore more economical) battery pack. No fixed charging station required.
- Portable lithium batteries (7kg) offer extra freedom, each battery provides 3 hours of sailing, batteries can be connected indefinitely, allowing the sailing time to be extended endlessly.
- Increased range and higher cruising speed.
- Lockable bun in which the electric motor is concealed.
- Virtually unsinkable thanks to separate air chambers.
- Central multifunctional battery box also serves as a table.
- The steering position slopes downwards – more foot room for the skipper.
- Self-draining cockpit.
- Only suitable for electric outboard motors.
- Sufficient storage space for cushion set (optional).

Electric propulsion systems in recreational boating
Benefits of electric motors? In short: Clean, quiet, low-maintenance, reliable, practical, super powerful, and a very predictable and controllable range. Want to know more? Be sure to read our

Electric motors can be divided into the following categories:
These are engines installed in boats to replace, for example, an existing marine diesel engine or to propel a sloop with a built-in engine. Propulsion is provided, for example, by a propeller shaft or sail drive, and the engine is usually installed lengthwise. |
These are motors that are mounted, for example, on the stern (transom) of the boat. These motors are therefore more flexible because they are easily accessible and removable. When the voltage is 24 volts or higher, we call it an outboard motor. |
Whisper motors are the lighter version of outboard motors, operating at voltages below 24 volts. They are often powered by an external 12V battery. |
These engines are mounted underneath the boat . This has the major advantage that the engine takes up no space inside the boat and is also invisible from the outside. |
Our water scooter is an electric-powered swimming board. When used in reverse, it also doubles as a water cannon. This isn't just a fun toy for young children, but also a very useful aid for less mobile swimmers. |
Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is becoming increasingly popular, but it's also a strenuous sport. However, by equipping the SUP with an auxiliary motor, covering long distances becomes much easier. Be sure to read our review of the ePropulsion Vaquita SUP motor . |

Just like for the SUP, we also supply support motors for kayaks and canoes. |
