In the months leading up to the Green Tech Boat Show in Southampton, we at Robust-MT Marine Technology followed the development of the beautiful Optima electric motor boat via LinkedIN, . The fact that this boat would make an appearance at the Green Tech Boat Show was actually enough reason for us to travel to Southampton. We were not disappointed, what absolute beauty!

We had the pleasure of meeting designer, builder and owner David Kendall and exchanging experiences with a fellow boat builder. We also agreed to one day sail our electric boats together.

The drivetrain was also discussed in that conversation. Until then we had no idea. It turned out that the boat is powered by a 40kW motor on a 400V installation made by RAD Propulsion of, also, Southampton. We received a brochure and agreed to keep in touch.

Back home we decided to contact RAD Propulsion . We now mainly operate in the market for smaller boats and smaller engines, but it cannot be denied that there is a demand for higher power, also in our Westland and surrounding areas.

With an eye to the future and in the full belief that electrification of pleasure boating has not only been initiated, but is now really continuing, we believe that we should now make connections with the suppliers of products that we may want to use in the future. feed.

The response from RAD Propulsion was very positive and led to a video call with RAD Propulsion CEO Daniel Hook . In this conversation we had the opportunity to get acquainted, to talk about the market in the UK and the potential of the market in the Netherlands. We have agreed to travel to Southampton again at short notice and discuss further possibilities for cooperation.
