Introducing: The Robust-425
OK, so we wanted to launch our own electric boat. First and foremost, the boat had to be "robust." But what exactly does that mean? This led us to explore not only the core of our company name (Robust-MT Marine Technology BV is a subsidiary of the Robust-IT group), but also the very essence of who we are. Read the story here and get to know the coolest electric boat on the market.
Robust-425: Robust
Van Dale says the following:
robust (adjective, adverb)
1 strong, sturdily built
2 sturdy, effective: robust measures
We'd say: indestructible, rugged, reliable, vandal-proof, maintenance-free, unpolished, perhaps a bit rough around the edges, but honest nonetheless. Actually, that's pretty much who we are (or want to be). We wanted to create a boat that simply works. A boat that requires little to no maintenance. A boat that can withstand a (heavy) beating. A boat that's safe and stable, and that everyone can enjoy. In short, carefree water fun.
Okay, but how do you build such a boat? First of all, of course, there's the choice of materials. We didn't want polyester, wood, or steel. We also didn't want more complex production methods (think 3D printing); the boat had to be relatively simple and quick to build. We ultimately settled on aluminum (more on that soon) and HDPE as the materials for our boats. And yes, it won't stop at just one model line.
Robust-425: Kemeling Plastics
We previously wrote about our collaboration with Kemeling Kunststoffen . The video above shows an impression of the first prototype, the construction of the first test boat, the launch, and finally the first test run on March 9, 2024. The boat was designed by Hessel Luiten, built by Aartjan van Driel, and all of this was made possible by Robert Kemeling. We at Robust-MT Marine Technology BV are incredibly proud of the result of this wonderful collaboration and can't wait to actually put this boat into production.
