We sincerely believe that the quality of our water is a serious problem and we are confident that we can completely eliminate some future pollution through our sustainable recreational boating products and cleaning up existing pollution. We do this not alone , but also in partnerships such as the Dutch Sustainable Boating Coalition .

Westland surface water - Written questions to the Board

In recent months we have tried several times to get the problem of (half-sunken) stray boats on the political agenda. To this end, we have sought cooperation with local entrepreneurs (where there is sufficient enthusiasm to really tackle this problem) as well as the local party Westland Verstandig .

Westland Verstandig has tackled this very actively and expeditiously by asking the council several written questions:

First of all, we would like to express our thanks to the Westland Verstandig faction and Peter Duijsens in particular. As local entrepreneurs and residents of Het Westland, we felt heard and welcome.

Westland surface water - Too bad but unfortunately!

Unfortunately, the council has decided not to take action here:

What a weak story. It is our Westland surface water, it is our health and that of our children. Why is it not the responsibility of the municipality of Westland? Our water is so dirty that no one should want to swim in it . Now we see half-sunken boats everywhere leaking gasoline and diesel and the municipality simply looks the other way. What do you mean the responsibility of the Delfland Water Board?

Surface water quality is becoming the new nitrogen and, unfortunately and once again, we are not doing well. Here is an opportunity to improve something, the local business community is eager to help, even without compensation, and the municipality is not even open to entering into discussions.

All this is in stark contrast to the message that also appeared today in the same newspaper (although that article also offers perspective, apparently the Water Board wants to tackle this):

Here is another appeal, but this time to the Delfland Water Board. As local entrepreneurs, we are concerned about the quality of our Westland surface water and we would like to contribute to this and we are not the only ones. Who will take ownership here from local politics and (semi-)government and how are we going to approach this together?
