Rad Propulsion (Southampton UK) and Robust-MT Marine Technology BV are exploring collaboration
Introduction at the Green Tech Boat Show in Southampton leads to intention for future collaboration between Rad Propulsion and Robust-MT Marine Technology BV
In the months leading up to the Green Tech Boat Show in Southampton, we at Robust-MT Marine Technology followed the development of the beautiful Optima electric motorboat via LinkedIn . The fact that this boat would be making an appearance at the Green Tech Boat Show was reason enough for us to travel to Southampton. We weren't disappointed; what an absolute beauty!
We had the pleasure of meeting designer, builder, and owner David Kendall and sharing experiences with a fellow boat builder. We also agreed to sail our electric boats together someday.
The propulsion system also came up in that conversation. Until then, we'd had no idea. It turned out the boat was powered by a 40kW motor on a 400V system made by RAD Propulsion , also from Southampton. We were given a brochure and agreed to stay in touch.
RAD Propulsion collaboration
Back home, we decided to contact RAD Propulsion . We currently operate primarily in the market for smaller boats and smaller engines, but there's no denying that there's demand for more powerful engines, even in Westland and surrounding areas.
With an eye to the future, and fully convinced that the electrification of recreational boating has not only begun but is now truly on the rise, we believe it's time to start connecting now with suppliers of products we may want to offer in the future.
RAD Propulsion's response was very positive and led to a video call with RAD Propulsion CEO Daniel Hook . During this conversation, we had the opportunity to get acquainted, discuss the UK market, and the potential of the Dutch market. We agreed to travel back to Southampton soon to discuss further collaboration opportunities.
