ZWS-595 Sail efficiently with plenty of space

The ZWS-595 builds on the excellent electric sailing characteristics of the ZWS-525 but is a step larger. With virtually the same power consumption and the same ease of use as its smaller sibling, the ZWS-595 offers considerably more space. Two families (8-10 people) can comfortably enjoy whisper-quiet sailing. As with our other models, various electric configurations are available, varying in engine power and battery life. For when shore power is unavailable, the ZWS-595 can also be easily equipped with handy portable lithium batteries.
  • Circular seating and seating for 8-10 people.
  • 50-60% lower power consumption than other designs, requires a smaller (and therefore more economical) battery pack. No fixed charging station required.
  • Portable lithium batteries (11kg) offer extra freedom, each battery provides 3 hours of sailing, batteries can be connected infinitely, allowing the sailing time to be extended endlessly.
  • Increased range and higher cruising speed.
  • Lockable bun in which the engine is concealed.
  • Virtually unsinkable thanks to separate air chambers.
  • Central multifunctional battery box also serves as a table.
  • Steering position slopes downwards – more foot space for the skipper
  • Self-draining cockpit.
  • Only suitable for electric outboard motors.
  • Sufficient storage space for cushion set (optional).

Electric propulsion systems in recreational boating

Benefits of electric motors? In short: Clean, quiet, low-maintenance, reliable, practical, super powerful, and a very predictable and controllable range. Want to know more? Be sure to read our blog post about electric boating and then our practical experiences with these beautiful products.

Electric motors can be divided into the following categories:

Inboard engines:

These are engines installed in boats to replace, for example, an existing marine diesel engine or to propel a sloop with a built-in engine. Propulsion is provided, for example, by a propeller shaft or sail drive, and the engine is usually installed lengthwise.

Outboard motors:

These are motors that are mounted, for example, on the stern (transom) of the boat. These motors are therefore more flexible because they are easily accessible and removable. When the voltage is 24 volts or higher, we call it an outboard motor.

Whispering motors:

Whisper motors are the lighter version of outboard motors, operating at voltages below 24 volts. They are often powered by an external 12V battery.

Pods:

These engines are mounted underneath the boat . This has the major advantage that the engine takes up no space inside the boat and is also invisible from the outside.

Water scooter:

Our water scooter is an electric-powered swimming board. When used in reverse, it also doubles as a water cannon. This isn't just a fun toy for young children, but also a very useful aid for less mobile swimmers.

SUP motor:

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is becoming increasingly popular, but it's also a strenuous sport. However, by equipping the SUP with an auxiliary motor, covering long distances becomes much easier. Be sure to read our review of the ePropulsion Vaquita SUP motor .

Canoe or kayak motor:

Just like for the SUP, we also supply support motors for kayaks and canoes.

Southwesterly sloop

Southwesterly sloop (ZWS) makes beautiful, affordable, and durable aluminum sloops for anyone who enjoys boating and socializing, but not the hassle of bailing, cleaning, painting, repairing, and winterizing. Our sturdy and robust sloops are mostly electric: ZWS has over 12 years of experience in electric boating.

Southwesterly sloop stands for

Making sustainable sloop boating affordable and carefree fun – that's our mission. That's why we design our sloops with these principles in mind:

Functionally sustainable

Sustainability is so logical in the design and use of our sloops that we don't really want to make a big deal about it. It's the foundation of all our choices regarding materials, components, and propulsion. Yet, we're never "green for green's sake." It's a win-win situation. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable and maintenance-free. The plastic of our rubbing strakes is recycled and retains its beauty longer than wood. Electric boating is cleaner and quieter. A win-win situation.

Whisper-quiet sailing

All ZWS sloops are electrically powered. Over 12 years of experience in electric boating guarantees sophisticated and proven electric motor and battery combinations. This is not only good for the environment but also provides a wonderfully smooth boating experience, freed from the thumping and roar of combustion engines.

No hassle

A SouthWesternSloep Always ready to go out. No hassle with tarpaulin, bailing, or cleaning: just unlock, put in a cooler bag, cast off, and set sail. And if you happen to hit something along the way… c'est la vie. Four- or five-millimeter-thick aluminum can take a beating. In winter, the boat simply sits in the water. The aluminum protects itself and doesn't need (toxic) antifouling, nor does it need to be sanded or painted. All our sloops are self-draining, so rainwater drains away automatically.

Affordable and stable in value

Smart design reduces production costs, and you, the buyer, will notice this in the purchase price. But the advantage of the ZWS lies primarily in the relatively low annual costs. No winter storage, no winterizing the engine, and minimal repairs and maintenance. Furthermore, we handcraft each sloop. This craftsmanship ensures low depreciation and excellent value retention. Value for money, in other words. And who doesn't love that?
