Sustainable sailing event June 24, 2023 at Nautix Marina in Amsterdam

On June 24, 2023, it finally happened: The very first sustainable sailing test event in the Netherlands took place at the Nautix Marina in Amsterdam. The event was organized by the Sustainable Sailing Coalition .

Robust-MT Marine Technology was present on behalf of the Sustainable Shipping Coalition , Drinkwaard Marine , ePropulsion , Temo France , and ThrustMe . The weather was fantastic, the organization was top-notch, and the enthusiasm was overwhelming. Read our report here.

Opening

On behalf of the Sustainable Boating Coalition, the event was opened by organizer Niek Prast (thanks Niek, perfectly organized) and chairman Marcel Schaap of De Stille Boot . Erik Regterschot opened the event City of Amsterdam policy changes regarding recreational boating in Amsterdam . Erik mentioned having gained experience on an electric scooter beforehand. He was struck by the unexpected benefit of silence: "This scooter is good for my relationship, because now my wife and I can talk to each other again while on the road."

It is clear how much greater this effect is when sailing for hours in peace and quiet during the day, enjoying the surroundings, nature and each other.

To be honest, it was even busier than expected and too busy for our staff. We'll do this again in September and bring in reinforcements then. Multiple brands and two boats for sea trials, especially with such high demand, require even more manpower.

Test drive

The goal of this event was primarily to experience and inform. This wasn't a sales event, and therefore there was no active selling. However, the entire industry was present to inform visitors as thoroughly and comprehensively as possible about the possibilities of sustainable sailing. Besides a large number of stands with virtually every product available in the Netherlands, there was also the opportunity to try out as many as possible.
