Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2022 was our very first trade show visit last year as Robust-MT Marine Technology. We were so impressed by this new market. We thought we already knew a lot about electrification in recreational boating. Here, we were really brought back down to earth; there was still a whole world to discover. In 2023, our experience was different.
First of all, the trade fair was much quieter than last year. In our memory, it was huge, but now, with Boot Düsseldorf and Metstrade still fresh in our minds, we were no longer impressed at all. In fact, we had seen the entire fair in 1.5 hours. There were a lot of familiar products, and what was 'new' gave the impression of being mostly prototypes and concepts.
A fair like this in Amsterdam is great, but was it worth 1.5 hours?
Absolutely, because it gave us the chance to take a good look at one of the Torqeedo for which we have an inquiry pending. We were able to catch up extensively with our friends at ePropulsion and Drinkwaard Marine , and it was also a pleasant time at TopSystems, our supplier for everything between shore power and propulsion, with a warm welcome and good coffee. In short, worthwhile in terms of networking, but perhaps we will make a different choice next year.
