At Robust-MT, you can put together everything you need in one go: motor, battery, charger, cabling, and controls, matched to each other and to your boat. Our complete sets are assembled with brands such as ePropulsion, Waterworld, and Torqeedo and range from compact outboard motor sets for sloops to full inboard systems for larger motorboats and sailboats.
Every set is a fixed starting point, not an end point: based on your boating habits, boat type, and boating area, we are happy to customize the package in terms of battery capacity, motor power, or accessories. You can install the set yourself or have it installed in our own workshop in Monster, including a test run before you head out onto the water.

Electric motors are expressed in kW, while your current motor is probably listed in hp. This guideline helps in choosing the right electric boating package:

The battery largely determines the price and cruising time of your electric boating package:
For smaller outboard motors (up to approximately 3 hp), the lithium battery is often already integrated into the motor, meaning you do not need a separate battery box.
The cruising time of an electric boating package depends on three factors: motor power, battery capacity, and your boating style. As a rule of thumb:
Required battery capacity (kWh) = desired sailing hours x average power consumption (kW)
If you cruise for two hours at half power with a 6 kW motor, you will need approximately 6 kWh of net battery capacity. Cruising calmly at low speed can significantly extend the range, while giving it a lot of throttle consumes extra capacity. Do you want to be able to cruise longer without recharging in between? Then we can easily expand the package with an extra battery.

How much does an electric boating package cost?
The price of a complete electric boating package depends on the motor power and the chosen battery type, and at Robust-MT ranges from approximately 1,800 euros for a compact outboard motor set to over 40,000 euros for a complete inboard system for larger vessels. The purchase price is higher than for a comparable petrol or diesel engine, but this is offset by the fact that there are no fuel costs and hardly any maintenance costs.
What is included as standard in a complete electric boat motor set?
A complete set consists of the electric motor, a suitable battery, a battery charger, cabling, and a control unit such as a throttle or remote control with a display.
Can I install an electric boating package myself?
Yes, most packages are suitable for self-assembly. If you prefer to have this done professionally, Robust-MT will take care of the complete installation in their own workshop in Monster, including a test run.
What power do I need for my boat?
As a rule of thumb, 3 kW replaces a 4 to 8 hp outboard motor, 12 kW corresponds to 20 to 30 hp, and 40 kW to 60 to 80 hp. Unsure? Contact us, and we will take a look based on your boat type and boating habits.
How long can I boat on a full battery?
That depends on the motor power, the battery capacity, and your boating style. Count on a few hours per charge with average use; considerably longer when boating at a leisurely pace.
What is the difference between lead-acid, AGM, and lithium batteries in an electric boating package?
Lead-acid batteries are the most affordable but heavy and have limited discharge capacity. AGM batteries offer better value for money and can be discharged to approximately 70%. Lithium batteries are up to 80% lighter, can be discharged up to 100%, and last the longest, at a higher purchase price.
Can I have a custom electric boating package put together?

Is an electric outboard motor suitable for salt water?
Most electric outboard motors in our sets are suitable for fresh, brackish, and salt water. If in doubt, check the specifications of the chosen model or contact us.
What is the difference between buying a complete set and buying individual parts?
With a complete set, the motor, battery, charger, and wiring are already matched to each other in terms of power, connections, and cable thickness. When purchasing parts separately, there is a greater risk that the components will not work together optimally.
