An electric sloop sails completely silently. No sound from a combustion engine, no vibration in the hull, and no emissions. Maintenance costs are structurally lower than with a combustion engine: no oil changes, no fuel filters, and no injectors requiring attention. Moreover, electric boating is cheaper per kilometer. And more and more waterways in the Netherlands are being designated as emission-free zones, making electric boating not only attractive but also future-proof.

Disadvantages
The purchase price is higher than that of a comparable petrol boat. That is true. A new electric sloop requires a higher investment than a comparable boat with an internal combustion engine. What many buyers forget, however, is that the total cost of ownership over the years actually turns out to be more favorable. You save on fuel, pay hardly any maintenance, and do not have to reckon with major repairs to a complex engine.
