In a PV installation with multiple parallel strings, the healthy strings feed back into a short-circuited string. This 8 A version interrupts that back current before the cable and module sustain damage and is suitable for systems up to 1500 Vdc. gPV characteristic The gPV characteristic is specifically tuned for photovoltaic string protection according to IEC 60269-6: a full-range characteristic that interrupts both small, prolonged overloads and short-circuit currents, with a fuse characteristic that matches the limited short-circuit current of PV modules. 1500 Vdc and 50 kA breaking capacity Suitable for string voltages up to 1500 Vdc with a breaking capacity of 50 kA DC at a time constant L/R of 2 ms. This makes the fuse also suitable for use in installations where a battery bank or inverter can supply a high short-circuit current. Power Loss The power loss is 3.6 W at nominal current and 1.5 W at 0.7 × In. When dimensioning an enclosed cabinet or combiner box, use the value at the actual load, not the nominal value.
