HDPE rental sloop with electric propulsion for Bootje Den Haag

In the spring of this year, Robust-MT Marine Technology BV delivered a beautiful addition to the rental fleet to Bootje Den Haag. This concerns two fully custom-built examples of our indestructible Robust-425, better known as “Robbie”. This in-house new build model was developed in close collaboration with Kemeling Kunststoffen as the ideal HDPE rental sloop made from 10mm thick, solid plastic sheet material. In urban areas, the market is increasingly demanding 100% emission-free and maintenance-free water transport. With the deployment of these new, electrically powered plastic sloops, the canal rental company in The Hague is perfectly responding to stricter local environmental requirements. As a result, the organization possesses a reliable and highly presentable HDPE rental sloop for commercial recreational boating.

Functional modifications and customer specifications

Based on practical experience with the first Robbie prototype, this HDPE rental sloop underwent a number of significant technical and aesthetic upgrades. The modifications are specifically designed for intensive use within the professional boat rental industry:

Exclusive color scheme

The sloops are finished entirely in a stylish black color. This is combined with comfortable, baby blue cushion sets for a luxurious look on the canals of The Hague.

Corporate Identity

On the exterior, our team installed a beautiful, custom-made logo sign to ensure Bootje Den Haag is recognizable.

Self-draining tub

The structure features a fully self-draining tank. As a result, rainwater flows away automatically, minimizing daily maintenance time for the landlord.

Hull optimization and safety

The aft end of the synthetic hull is equipped with a raised transom including an integrated swimming platform. Furthermore, a built-in buoyancy device ensures excellent stability and maximum safety for the occupants.

High-quality electric propulsion

For the propulsion of this compact HDPE rental sloop, the reliable ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Evo Remote (1 kW, comparable to 3 hp) was chosen. This electric motor is neatly concealed out of sight in a lockable engine compartment. The vessel is operated via an ergonomic, mechanical steering system with a sturdy steering wheel on the central steering console. The portable Spirit battery is efficiently concealed in the compartment. This battery offers the major logistical advantage that it can be easily removed from the boat after the rental day to be charged at the office or in the workshop. Consequently, a fixed charging station or shore power supply at the berth is not necessary for this HDPE rental sloop.

Result

The delivery of the two custom examples of this HDPE rental sloop has been a great success. During the testing phase on inland waters, the synthetic hull immediately proved itself to be extremely stable, robust, and maneuverable. Because the solid HDPE material is completely free of paint, lubricating oil, and antifouling, the boat is 100% environmentally friendly and maintenance-free. Damage caused by collisions with jetties or low canal walls is a thing of the past. The combination of the sleek design and whisper-quiet technology guarantees a unique guest experience. With this, the Bootje Den Haag fleet is fully ready for a profitable, emission-free, and carefree future.
