The module features both a built-in antenna and an SMA connector; a switch on top allows you to select which of the two is active. Cable length 5.0 m — the longest of the two outdoor LTE-M antennas. Applications The GlobalLink is not suitable for outdoor installation, yet in practice, it is often placed precisely where reception is worst: at the back of a technical room, inside a metal cabinet, or in a van. With 5 meters of cable, you can mount the antenna outside that shielding, on a facade or mast. According to the manufacturer, never set the switch to external without a connected antenna: this can cause permanent damage to the device. For mounting on a flat surface, roof, or vehicle, the puck version with a 3.0 m cable is more practical.
