Victron Autotransformer 120/240VAC-100A For installations with American split-phase shore power and for yachts or work setups where 120 V and 240 V coexist. The transformer distributes the load across both phases and keeps the current through the neutral conductor within limits. Split-phase balancing In a 120/240V network with two phases of 120 V relative to the neutral, the difference between the two phases flows through the neutral conductor. When one phase is loaded much more heavily than the other, the autotransformer takes over that difference. This keeps the voltage per phase within limits and prevents the neutral conductor from becoming overloaded. Raising and lowering voltage In addition to balancing, the autotransformer converts 120 V to 240 V or vice versa. This allows you to power 240V equipment from a 120V connection, or conversely, 120V equipment from a European installation via an inverter. In combination with MultiPlus and Quattro, the autotransformer features a built-in ground relay for use behind a MultiPlus or Quattro. This ensures that the output grid grounding remains correctly switched when the inverter switches between shore power and battery operation. This is the standard solution for a 120/240V installation with one large inverter instead of two stacked units.
