Victron BatteryProtect 48V-100A The BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before the battery is fully discharged (which would damage the battery) or before there is insufficient power remaining to start the engine. The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage. The BatteryProtect can be set to switch on/off at various voltages. The 7-segment display shows the selected setting. A special setting for lithium-ion batteries allows the BatteryProtect to be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note: the BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge interrupter between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See the connection diagram in the manual. Super-low current consumption is important for lithium-ion batteries, especially after a shutdown due to low voltage. To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected as soon as the DC voltage exceeds 16V or 32V respectively. Ignition protected: No relays, but MOSFET switches, and therefore no sparks. Delayed alarm: The alarm is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnection level for more than 12 seconds. Starting the engine therefore does not trigger the alarm. The alarm output is an open-collector, short-circuit protected output connected to the negative (minus) rail, max. current 50mA. The alarm output is generally used to activate the buzzer, an LED, or a relay. Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection: The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises again to the coupling threshold within this timeframe (after the engine has been started, for example), the load is not disconnected.
