Victron Smart Battery Sense (up to 10m) Victron Smart Battery Sense (long range, up to 10 m) Wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT solar chargers. The sensor measures voltage and temperature directly at the battery and sends this data via the VE.Smart Network to one or more solar chargers, which then adjust their charging parameters accordingly. This version has a range of up to 10 meters between sensor and charger. Applications A solar charger that measures the battery voltage at its own terminals does not see what is lost along the way due to cable resistance — and therefore consistently charges too low. This sensor measures where it counts: at the battery terminals. With lithium batteries, it is also a safety measure, as charging around freezing point permanently damages LiFePO4 cells. The same measurement data can be used simultaneously by multiple solar chargers on the same 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V battery bank. Setup is done using the free VictronConnect app. When you specifically should *not* use it According to the manufacturer, this sensor is not necessary — and not permitted — in systems already controlled by a GX device. It is also not necessary for installations with a BMV-712 Smart *with* a temperature sensor.
