Victron SmartShunt 1000A/50mV Victron SmartShunt 1000 A The SmartShunt is a complete battery monitor without a display: the phone is the screen. All electronics are located on the shunt itself, meaning no cable runs to a panel and nothing needs to be cut out. Via Bluetooth and the VictronConnect app, you can read charge status, voltage, current, consumed ampere-hours, and remaining runtime. This version is suitable for up to 1000 A. Applications As soon as there are multiple inverter/chargers or an electric drive in the system, a 500 A shunt reaches its limit. This version measures up to 1000 A with the same accuracy and the same app, making it one of the simplest ways to monitor a heavy DC main distribution. * Larger yachts and commercial vessels with a heavy DC main distribution * Off-grid installations with multiple inverter/chargers in parallel * Commercial vehicles with electric propulsion or heavy auxiliary systems * Energy storage systems in a dry technical room What you read out * Battery voltage, current, and power * Consumed ampere-hours, charge status, and remaining runtime * History: deepest discharge, average discharge, number of cycles, highest and lowest voltage * Trends over the stored measurement period Auxiliary input The second red cable can be configured for one of three functions: voltage of a second battery (6.5 – 70 VDC), center point voltage of a battery bank, or temperature via the optional sensor ASS000100000. With center point monitoring, the monitor calculates the percentage deviation and triggers an alarm as soon as it exceeds a set limit. Connection and integration In addition to Bluetooth, there is a VE.Direct port for pairing with a GX device, after which the data is available locally and via the VRM portal. Via VE.Smart networking, the monitor wirelessly shares battery voltage and current with Victron charge controllers and some battery chargers, making charge control more accurate. The device can also be configured as a DC meter for a separate DC circuit. Differences compared to a BMV-712 Smart * No visual or audible alarm on the device itself; alarms are received via the app or the GX device * No programmable relay * The electronics are fixed to the shunt instead of in a separate display unit * Less cabling and no panel cutout required Mounting The device is IP21 rated and must therefore be mounted in a dry location. The base contains two 5.5 mm holes for screwing or bolting the unit to a solid surface; screws are not included. The shunt is the only component that should be connected to the negative terminal of the battery; all consumers and chargers connect to the LOAD MINUS side. In this version, the connection bolts are M10 and the maximum tightening torque is 21 Nm. Take the larger housing into account when designing the switch cabinet layout. Bluetooth range The shunt and power cables affect the Bluetooth range; in practice, approximately 10 to 15 meters remains. If the monitor is located in a metal cabinet or close to a steel hull, this may be insufficient. In that case, add a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle (ASS030536011) and disable Bluetooth in the SmartShunt.
