Victron VE.Direct TX Output Cable Applications For solar installations where the charge controller needs to do more than just charge: dimming street lighting based on battery voltage, adding a load output to a larger MPPT, or sending the generated energy to an external meter. Lighting Dimming The cable connects the Tx output of the VE.Direct port to the PWM dimming input of an LED driver. By dimming when possible, consumption decreases and lighting remains available longer, even with a partially charged battery bank. This reduces the size of the battery bank and panel, and thus the system costs. Virtual Load Output Larger MPPT charge controllers starting from 100/30 do not have their own load output. With this cable, you can control a BatteryProtect or a solid-state relay, providing a switchable load with the associated deep-discharge protection. Energy Metering In this function, the Tx output generates a pulse for every 0.01 kWh of generated solar energy, which you can feed to an external energy meter or counter.
